Heritage Cabinet Workshop Addition

Heritage Custom Cabinets hired Hetrick Design to design a functional expansion to their existing workshop facility, allowing the business to grow its production capacity and improve workflow efficiency. The new two-story addition provides a ground-floor workshop area with a stairway leading to a new upper-level office. With this new space, the original office could be converted into additional shop area to better serve the company’s custom cabinetry operations.

Because the addition connects directly to an existing metal-framed structure, the project required careful coordination to maintain structural integrity and meet code compliance. Valerie Hill, P.E., PLLC provided structural design support, particularly in developing details for new framed openings within the existing steel structure. Hetrick Design worked closely with Valerie to integrate these structural modifications and ensure seamless continuity between the new and existing construction.

The design also required special attention to fire-resistance provisions for walls, eaves, and rakes where the new and existing buildings interface. This project represents Hetrick Design’s focus on blending thoughtful technical design with practical, code-driven solutions—delivering a durable and efficient addition tailored to the client’s ongoing business needs.
